about

On a cold December evening in 2018, Tom loaded his drums in to his van and set off with Ruth to rehearse with the band to get ready for their yearly Christmas shindig. While at rehearsal Ruth received a phone call from her good friend Kayleigh who was babysitting their daughter Pearl. The phone call went something like this -
Kayleigh "Did you leave your garage door open'
Ruth "No"
Kayleigh 'It's wide open, did you have bikes in there?"
Ruth "Yes, two, are they still there"
Kayleigh "No...........
(Ironically Kayleigh is a police officer)
After ending the phone call Ruth decided to carry on with rehearsal and went home a short time later with Tom. During the week Ruth then wrote the song "Someone Stole My Bike This Christmas" and sang it to the rest of the band the following week. They decided to record it this year as a little something fun to brighten everyone sprits during this crazy Covid time.

lyrics

It was early in the evening
On a cold December night
We had plans to rehearse to make sure we’d play right
As Tom loaded in his drums from the garage to his van
I’m guessing that’s when the thief hatched his shitty plan

Someone stole my bike this Christmas
The bastard he took my boyfriend’s too
Had the cheek to leave us his kind Raleigh max
We threw it to the kerb
The bastard came and took it back

I was feeling pretty rubbish
I'd been in for like 5 days
But rehearsing was putting a smile back on my face
When my friend who was looking after our daughter Pearl
Rang to tell me the news that all wasn’t well

Someone stole my bike this Christmas
The bastard took my boyfriend’s too
Had the cheek to leave us his kind Raleigh max
We threw it to the kerb
The bastard came and took it back

As we ran through the set
I had moments of regret
No insurance to cover our bike or other assets
And it made me kind of mad that this scum bag had took
Something that we saved for but never really used
So I wish you a not so merry Christmas
I’d like to think you did it for you kids
And I hope they never realise what a scumbag you are and they don’t turn out like you

Someone stole my bike this Christmas
The bastard took my boyfriend’s too
Had the cheek to leave us his kind Raleigh max
We threw it to the kerb
The bastard came and took it back

Someone stole my bike this Christmas
The bastard took my boyfriend’s too
Had the cheek to leave us his kind Raleigh max
We threw it to the kerb
The bastard came and took it back

about

Late Night Marauders Hull, UK

"Late Night Marauders are led by whirlwind soulstress Ruthie Scott and the piano wizardry of James Wood. Raised on a steady diet of classic RnB and jazz standards Ruth's songs evoke visions of smokey basement clubs in the 1950's where beatniks and jazzheads would party. Late Night Marauders present a unique blend of soul, R'n'B and boogie which is an irrepressible delight.
